Terminal Obsession
A journey through French synth-pop, cold wave and alternative music built around airport terminals, take-off and desire.
I work within a precise musical territory shaped by synthesizers, drum machines, experimental pop and the many mutations of new wave. I call this world Glamour noir: elegant, strange, urban, sensual, austere, playful and melancholic.
Music shaped by instrumental and vocal experimentation, visual culture and less conventional structures.
Stripped-back, cold sound, distant voices, romantic austerity and urban tension.
Primitive machines, sonic avant-garde and radicalism.
Songs reshaped by synthesizers, drum machines and groove. Forgotten singles, B-sides, private pressings and independent releases outside the familiar 1980s canon.
Elegant and sophisticated pop, carried by polished, jazz-inflected arrangements, close attention to emotion and inventive studio work.
A darker and more melancholic branch of new wave, shaped by shadow, tension and introspection.
Physical and abrasive experimentation driven by machines, repetition, noise and confrontation.
Unidentified or partially documented recordings whose artist, title or origin remain uncertain.
I have a particular affinity with artists from France, Belgium, Switzerland and Quebec: eccentric pop experiments, synthetic chansons, private releases and records that slipped through the cracks.
I create bespoke selections for spaces, exhibitions, events, broadcasts and editorial projects that share an affinity with my musical world.
I develop a coherent musical language for a space or project, with a core repertoire, sequences for different moments and a framework for future programming.
I provide regularly renewed programming for venues and independent businesses seeking continuity, variety and a recognisable musical signature.
I explore underground scenes, regional movements, independent labels, obscure releases, B-sides, private pressings and forgotten discographies.
I can act as a Paris-based liaison for independent labels outside France working with, or seeking to reissue, francophone artists. I can contact artists, former band members, families and rights holders, collectors and local contacts in French; manage correspondence; conduct interviews; and contribute to biographical or discographical research, translation and local coordination.
I perform vinyl-only DJ sets for bars, galleries, cultural programmes, private parties and events. Based in Paris, I am available for bookings worldwide.
The first stage is an immersion in the project: the place or concept, its architecture, history, visual language, audience and the people behind it.
I like to begin with an open, genuine conversation.Together, we explore the elements that shape the project, the client’s vision and what they want to emphasise. This exchange helps define how the experience should be lived and the memory it should leave.
I pay attention to atmosphere, materials, colours, objects, references, scents, history, pace and the relationship with the audience. From there, I build a musical narrative closely connected to that world.
My research then moves through record archives, local scenes, independent catalogues, private releases and unexpected connections between artists, places and eras. I shape the selection through rhythm, contrast, transitions and emotional progression, with every track contributing to the wider story.
Galleries, exhibitions, installations and cultural institutions.
Design-led hotels, independent bars, wine spaces and distinctive venues.
Independent boutiques, editorial projects, launches and events with a strong creative direction.
Independent broadcasts, one-off mixes, thematic programmes, audiovisual projects and historical or music-led editorial content.
Reissue projects, archival research, artist liaison, interviews, translation and local coordination.
Dig. Uncover. Contextualise.
I am a Paris-based DJ, music director, researcher and record collector.
In another life, I was an archaeologist. That training still shapes how I understand the world and, more specifically, how I appreciate music, trace its origins and create connections through attentive listening and constant research.
Archaeology brings past populations back into focus through the objects, materials and remains they left behind. Music belongs to a more immaterial form of archive, yet a recording can testify with equal intensity to the precise moment in which it was created.
The instruments, production techniques, voices and artistic intentions heard on a record carry the imprint of their historical, political, social and cultural context. A track recorded at a time now gone preserves something of that atmosphere. Its grain, timbres, rhythms and production choices reveal how an era perceived itself and imagined its future. Like fashion, graphic design, architecture and the decorative arts, music is a vivid testimony to its time. That lost moment is what I try to recover.
The synthetic music of the late 1970s and 1980s emerged after a period of exuberance, colour and disco culture. New machines and technologies arrived alongside a more urban, sometimes colder sensibility, opening the way to radically new forms of expression.
This perspective guides my work in music direction. I follow traces across records, scenes, labels and forgotten catalogues, then reactivate and arrange them within a musical narrative. The result unfolds on two levels: an immersion in the sounds of the 1980s, and their renewal in a form attuned to contemporary ears.
My particular focus lies in the francophone and European margins of new wave, synthetic pop and experimental music: artists who moved between mainstream pop and the underground, melody and dissonance, elegance and strangeness.
Formerly based in Portland, Oregon, I held DJ residencies at Sonder Listening Bar and Dream House. My work has also been featured on NTS, Kiosk Radio and other independent radio stations and platforms.
